New Jersey introduces Connected Television bill

In the wake of the scandal involving Vizio televisions watching their viewers, New Jersey has introduced Assembly Bill 4677, a bill preventing internet connected televisions from listening in without obtaining consent from their users, and prohibits sale or advertising usage of the data they collect.

This bill is a more narrowly-scoped version of the Microphone-Enabled Devices Act (HB 3819) that we are pushing for in the Illinois General Assembly. We're happy to see legislation around privacy pop up around statehouses everywhere.
